Insulation and a Roof Repair in Matteson
The storm deposited this tree limb in the kitchen of this Matteson house. Debris from the ceiling joists and attic timbers were also scattered around and had to be cleaned up. Our team then focused on tarping the hole in the roof to keep out any rain or rats. Because we are also Licensed Roofing Contractors, we wear many hats; we ordered the building supplies to restore the damaged roof and ceiling for the following day. Since the attic had zero insulation, we offered to install blown cellulose into the crawl space. We recommended about 16-17 inches to reach an optimal R rating of 60. After applying the cellulose we measure the R factor with a thermal imaging device for verification. This high thermal resistance will help to keep the cold air out in winter and maintain a year-round comfortable ambient temperature inside. This insulation can also contribute to stymie ice dams from forming on the roof or gutters because of heat escaping from the living quarters that melts the snow and refreezes it.
